The short answer

Varshphal (annual chart) is a kundli made for the moment each year when the Sun returns to the exact place it held when you were born, close to your birthday. It is read for that one year, using the Tajik method with its own tools: muntha, the year lord and a yearly planet period.

How the varshphal chart is made

Every year the Sun comes back to the degree it was at when you were born. A chart is cast for that exact moment at your place, and it is read for the year until the next return.

This usually falls on or within a day of your birthday, which is why the year ahead in a varshphal runs from birthday to birthday.

The Tajik method

Varshphal uses the Tajik system, which came to India from Persian astrology centuries ago and is still widely used for yearly readings.

It keeps the houses and planets of your kundli and adds its own tools for the year: the muntha, the year lord and Tajik yogas.

Muntha and the year lord

The muntha moves one sign a year from your birth lagna. The house it falls in for the year is read as an area that gets extra attention.

The year lord (varsheshwar) is chosen from five planets that hold office in the chart. Its strength sets the tone of the year.

Month by month

Varshphal has its own short planet periods for the year, often called mudda dasha. They divide the year into stretches ruled by different planets.

Read with your main kundli's dasha, they show which months are better for work, money, family or rest.

What astrology can and can't tell you here

Astrology is a tradition, not a scientific test. A yearly chart can suggest better and quieter months, not fix what will happen.

Use it to plan, then decide with the real facts in front of you.
